Dry Rot

Dry rot is a type of wood rot that eats through wood, destroying the strength and integrity of the timber, leaving it brown and brittle and unsafe for use. Dry rot is a serious issue and should not be taken lightly. To ensure your dry rot issue gets sorted quickly get in touch with our experienced team on 01202 879139.

Causes of Dry Rot

Dry rot is caused by the mixing of damp timber and dry rot spores; by themselves neither one is particularly harmful, however, when the spores get into contact with damp timber they can germinate, causing dry rot to breakout on the timber.

Treating Dry Rot

Before treating the dry rot the source of the damp needs to be resolved to prevent the problem from occurring again in the future. Once the source of the damp has been resolved and the affected area has been dried out the dry rot treatment can get underway. Firstly, a survey of the particular area will be carried out to ensure the right treatment is applied to the dry rot. Once the recommended treatment has been identified our experienced contractor will get underway with treating and repairing the affected wood.
